Maggie’s Place

47th and Madison

On Monday, Tiger Woods was shooting a playoff in pursuit of his 14th major at the US Open. Thus, I had to watch him play for my lunch hour. I was following the score online until I left the office and frantically found a place where I could watch the round without paying through the nose for lunch. I looked into this Maggie’s Place, saw the Open on, and then looked at the specials menu. They had a chicken parmesan with penne for $10, reasonable enough.

The place is neat. It’s an Irish pub with a very clean feel. I sat at the bar and ordered the chicken. I was surprised that the bartender was a Celtic women with a delightful Irish accent. All of the workers sounded like they just jumped over the lake. It was excellent, I couldn’t believe how Celtic the place actually felt in the middle of Manhattan.

I was very focused on Tiger’s play. At that point in the round, he had a three stroke lead and every time he hit a putt or Rocco Mediate missed a putt, I would laugh. I got my chicken and firstly, it was huge. Then I took a bite and it was the best. The cheese was perfectly melted and they weren’t skimpy with it. The breading wasn’t soggy and the chicken was moist. The pasta was good as well.

It was very relaxing and I would love to go back. I highly recommend this place for a break from the stress and pace of Manhattan.

Oh yeah, Tiger won.

I want to go to a nice pub like that. The only two pubs i`ve been to were nasty and the food wasnt to great. The workers were not even irish.

George this blog is great! I read it everyday at work and I get very hungry. But, how about a beer review on a beer you can only get in New York? That would be truly awesome.
