The “Not So” Talkative Security Guards

Being a college student for the past three years George and I have had our share of weird desk attendants, but George’s are by far the worst we have ever met. They never acknowledge us or make any small talk. For the longest time George has been trying to talk to them and they usually give him one or two word answers. I personally have given up and just don’t say anything. You think they would be bored just sitting there all day, but whatever.

Well, I have to tell you what happened last time George asked them what they were watching because it was just hilarious! You see, I have to check in every time I come over, which is every night. These two guys were sitting together watching a little TV facing away from the door and George and I came in. Neither of them looked up and they just kept laughing at the screen. So George, once again tried to make conversation and asks “What are you guys watching?” No answer…. they were laughing again. George clearly asks again, “what’s so funny guys?” No answer and they didn’t even looked up. George covered (In what he calls Steve Martin fashion)and said in response to his own question, “Oh, it’s 6:45″. We couldn’t help it, but we burst out laughing! Just thinking about it makes me laugh. Like George would say, “These guys are just a couple a jokers.” Even after all that the guys just kept watching their little screen. George plans on getting these guys to crack and talk to him…we’ll see. I will say he has done it before.

    George3:

So sorry I spammed your blog.

It really wasn’t working at first, then I got two messages on two successive entries that said “moderating message.”

But I guess there’s no moderation to be found in George M. Kavanaugh!

Well, I do work security and I can tell you that sometimes we’re just not too hot on having a conversation with anyone. Sitting there all day destroys your spirit, it really does.

On a related note, here is some security related humor that could help you understand us guards better:
