Papaya Dog

42nd and 9th

After reentering Manhattan by the Lincoln Tunnel on the Jersey shuttle, we decided to eat something cheap. It was on our list so we decided we couldn’t knock New York dogs until we tried them. The guys behind the counter were much warmer than Gene and Jude’s workers and the prices were next to nothing. We got three dogs with all the New York fixings as requested (It hurt to reject the random relish they had on the counter, but I knew it wouldn’t be authentic), fries, and a pop. The fries were excellent, very crisp and tasty. Unfortunately and expectedly the dogs were horrible. They had mustard, ketchup, and sauerkraut. This place would seem to be a good representation of a New York dog so I guess if you’ve never had a Vienna Beef you might like it. My standards are just too high. We will still probably go back for other menu items like juices they make and the unbelievably cheap prices. In any case, we had fun. This is the kind of place you guys at home would like if you forget what a real dog tastes like for a while.

Hi George and Michelle. Good idea to keep a blog about your experiences, I wish I had done that when we went to Europe. Don’t forget to print it out and store it away for your tenth anniversary.

Be careful about people bumping into you. My sister got pick-pocketed while riding the subway in New York. They bumped into her and delved into her pocket. Unfortunately they got all of her ID’s, credit cards and cash. Quite upsetting to say the least.
When your uncle and I went to Europe we used the money belt and a pouch that slips into your clothing. Didn’t MIchelle use something like this when she went to Italy? I never carried a purse in Europe.

Well, I will look forward to reading about your exploits. Have fun and stay safe! We will miss you!

    Love, Aunt Sharon
